Just a few more years before heavyweight fighter, Deontay Wilder hangs his gloves. The boxer has declared that after three years from now, he will draw the curtains on his boxing career. After leading what one would call an exciting set of years in his boxing career, the fighter wants to end it on a very high note. Hence, the next three years remain crucial. He wishes to undertake high-profile matchups that would help engrave his career in golden words.
With a net worth of about $30 million, the fighter has undertaken one of the most high-profile matchups in contemporary boxing. Wilder has an impressive record of 46 bouts with 43 wins. The fighter has lost to only one person in his entire pro-boxing career. His nemesis, Tyson Fury remains the only one to give him a taste of loss, not once but twice. Now, as the conclusion of his boxing stint remains on the horizon, it will be interesting to see with what fighters will he clash to further his boxing prowess.

There were days when ‘The Bronze Bomber’ Wilder’s name was counted as one of the most promising in the boxing realm. But as years progressed and his loss against Fury shook the world, he became a fighter with declining clout. The announcement of his retirement would have remained a saddening affair to the boxing community. But that’s far from where the reality stands today.
It is at the time of one’s retirement do they realize the magnitude of the legacy they have made. A reality too many, it is at this moment they know how much love they have earned over the years. Bronze Bomber would have expected the same when he made the announcement of his retirement. But much to his disappointment, it does not seem like his retirement has invoked the somberness that he thought it would.
A user seemed rather glad that Wilder was hanging his gloves. And giving the fighter a title that a boxer fears the most, the user called him, “the worse heavyweight ever.”
Thank you because boxing did not need him at all the worse heavyweight ever

In the last few years, the heavyweight class has become notorious for not seeing many of the fights take their course. They either collapse at the negotiation stage or the fighters duck their opponents. One user claimed that boxers would be able to hardly take only one fight in these three years given the lack of activity in the weight class.
Probably only one fight left then it takes the heavyweights so long to sort a fight out

The post on iFL TV’s X handle had asked fans to suggest the three fights Wilder could take ahead of his retirement. However, fans were disappointed to see the fact that it is naturally implied that a heavyweight boxer would only take 3 fights in 3 years. A critic underlined this issue with class as he called for more matchups in the weight class.
1 fight a year is what’s wrong with heavyweight boxing.
Should be a minimum of 6 fights there— Zenitsu (@Zenitsu12220277) September 11, 2023
Suggesting Anthony Joshua, Zhilei Zhang, and Daniel Dubois as potential opponents to the fighter, a user made a valid point that the fighter should not be allowed to take a title fight until he proves his boxing acumen against former champions.
Shouldn’t be allowed to jump straight to title shot. Should have to fight ex-champion or contenders to have right to face Fury (if he ever stops dicking about) or Uysk.
1. AJ
2. Zhang
3. Dubois/Joyce40 odd fights hardly fought anyone with a pulse!

A user spoke about the possible collapse of Wilder’s fight against AJ placing the assumption on reports of the money being put on hold. The user further suggested Andy Ruiz as a potential opponent to the fighter.

The Saudi moneys on hold, so the AJ fight might not happen, maybe Ruiz next, with Ruiz two and three to follow 🤷♂️

Clearly, the news of his retirement has failed to make an impact in the boxing realm. However, there are currently conversations underway for a fight against AJ. Reportedly, the two will clash in Saudi Arabia sometime early next year. Whoever wins the bout will potentially get to face off against WBC-champion Tyson Fury. Or his rival, IBF, WBA, and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk.
