One of the most exciting forms of combat sports, boxing, has produced many stories of glory and success. Unfortunately, several chapters came at the cost of one’s health. The most recent one was of a Puerto Rican pugilist, Prichard Colon, who suffered such a severe head injury that not only ended his career, but also put his life in jeopardy.

Facebook page of ‘The Ring’ shared this post and remembered one of the most promising boxers, who rose to prominence in 2013 and 2014. While his eyes were set on the world title, he fell victim to the illegal punches of his opponent, Terrell Williams, in 2015.

The Ring wrote, “Prichard Colón was barely withstanding the rabbit punches of Terrell Williams, the Puerto Rican fighter was already seen as a young promise of world boxing without imagining that this confrontation against Williams would be the last in his life after receiving a cowardly attack..”

Before entering into this contest, the super welterweight warrior was undefeated. He was 16-0 and was dominating in the initial rounds of the fight. As a result, the frustrated Williams began landing rabbit punches on the back of Colon’s head.

Despite being hurt, Colon continued to fight. However, he could not go long and pulled back in round 9. When he stepped back out of the ring, he would not have speculated it was the last fight of his career.

Later, doctors discovered he suffered a brain injury that resulted in a vegetative state.

How did fans react to Prichard Colon’s injury that ruined his life?

A fan wrote, “So Terrell Williams should be fined and jailed. Blows to the back of the head are illegal in matches for this exact reason.”

Another fan added, “Most boxers become crippled for the rest of their lives. Look at the film Concussion (2015), they have a brain injury. You can search for more information if you don’t believe.”

Another fan wrote, “He not only destroyed his career also his life.”

“My prayers go out to you and your family. I pray that you get better. Keep up the good fight, don’t ever give up and have faith and pray he will get better”, another fan added.

Another fan wrote, “Does he know or remember anything?? About himself or his life?”
