Boxing World Demands David Benavidez Pick One of These Opponents as Canelo Alvarez Shifts His Focus to Jermall Charlo

On multiple occasions, David Benavidez declared he wanted to challenge Canelo Alvarez. However, despite the nod from the fans, claiming he did not want to fight a fellow Mexican boxer, Canelo Alvarez repeatedly avoided a fight with Benavidez. As per the latest updates, in his next fight, Alvarez will now return against Jermall Charlo on Cinco de Mayo weekend.

Before Jermall’s comeback fight against Jose Benavidez Jr. last year, ‘Hit Man’ revealed that he had received an offer from Team Alvarez. However, since he “wasn’t mentally ready or prepared“, he let his “brother [Jermell Charlo] seize the moment“. But, believing he would have a successful return against Jose, Jermall hoped to face Canelo in 2024. In this context, now that Canelo vs. Charlo is scheduled for May, boxing fans offered David Benavidez his alternatives.

Online poll offers David Benavidez Jaime Munguia, David Morrell, and other Light Heavyweights

Ahead of Jaime Munguia vs. John Ryder, David Benavidez showed interest in Munguia. However, as Benavidez later claimed, Munguia turned him down. As a result, Benavidez took to Instagram following Munguia’s victory over Ryder and claimed he could easily KO Jaime. On the other hand, Benavidez’s father informed the media that David would move up and face ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez, Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol. At this, while Team Benavidez searched for a suitable opponent, a boxing fan requested Oscar De La Hoya to stage Benavidez vs. Munguia:

However, in a reply, a boxing fan voted for the WBA Super-Middleweight champion David Morrell to face David Benavidez:

Similarly, another fan wanted to see Morrel take on Benavidez.

On the other hand, a fan wanted Benavidez to face undefeated Super-Middleweight fighter Christian Mbilli.
