Sunny Edwards is more than a boxer. He made his debut in the commentating booth as he was one of the commentators in the Joe Cordina vs Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov DAZN card. Cordina won the fight after a competitive back-and-forth via a split decision. The bout between the two was remarkable to watch as both competitors put it all on the line and gave the fans a show for the ages.
Additionally, The young 27-year-old flyweight champion got the opportunity to commentate not just on the main event but the entire fight card. Though, during the event, Barry Jones and he got into a friendly banter in which the former boxer made a subtle dig at the flyweight’s height. The clip of the interaction surfaced online and Edwards did not shy away from giving his response on Twitter.

Barry Jones is a former boxer who won the WBO Super Featherweight title in 1997. He retired from the sport of boxing but has not disassociated himself from the sport completely. The 48 year is now a boxing commentator who was commentating the recent DAZN event alongside Edwards. Now, Edwards is a flyweight which is on the lesser end of boxing weight divisions and as per BoxRec, the champion stands at 5’3 inches in height.
Jones used Edwards’ height to make a subtle dig at him during the commentary of the event. He stated, “I mean height shammed by someone who is 5 foot 3.”

Initially, Edwards took a second to process the comment and was surprised to hear the dig at him out of the blue. However, he responded by stating, “That is not very nice.” Thereafter, the clip got surfaced and Edwards again responded online by stating, “Lil cheeky if you ask me not when the camera is on.”

It appears that Edwards has been a good sport about it as everyone in the commentary booth had a good laugh to the dig. The world champion has made his debut as the commentator and may consider doing it again in the future for more such exciting moments. However, only time can reveal what lies ahead for the 27-year-old boxer.

Social media is the new age platform to interact with anyone around the world including celebrities. Though, it allows individuals to make very bold comments which can be very hurtful.
A fan took to Twitter and made a comment which was directed at Edwards, stating, “The one wish that I have for boxing in 2023 is for Sunny Edwards to die in the boxing ring. I would absolutely get off from witnessing that.” Thereafter, Edwards could not help himself but respond to the vile comment by stating, “Keep me outta your sick sexual fantasies”.
