Ryan Garcia is currently basking in the glory of his sensational showdown against Javier Fortuna. In victory, he has also cemented himself as one of the most promising names in the sport. Garcia even went on to challenge Gervonta Davis for a potential bout. It was recently reported that ‘KingRy’ has responded to Davis’ now reported former promoter, Floyd Mayweather Jr. after he shut down the prospect of the potential fight.

Garcia had called out Davis for a potential showdown. He said, “I will fight Tank next at 140lbs. I’m gonna record all the negotiations, so you can’t say I’m ducking. That fight’s gonna give me the respect I deserve. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Meanwhile, Mayweather was quick to notice the open challenge issued by Garcia. In a telephonic interview with FightHype, Mayweather responded by mentioning how Davis is the only opponent in Garcia’s eyes.

He added, “OK, you want to fight Tank; in boxing we make sacrifices. So we know that Tank fights at 135. So if you want to fight Tank at 135 we can make it happen before the end of the year.”
Moreover, with his statement, Mayweather also slashed the possibility of the fight happening at 140 lbs. He stated that Garcia is a young fighter and would have no issue cutting weight.

In fact, Garcia accepted his challenge to sacrifice weight. He said, “ANY WEIGHT ANY TIME ANY PLACE @floydmayweather and you can get it to if you want.”
Meanwhile, Garcia’s promoter and Golden Boy Promotions owner, Oscar De La Hoya, also mentioned that he will make sure that the bout takes place by the end of the year.
