Unbeaten world champions- Gervonta Davis and his mentor Floyd Mayweather are often regarded as an iconic pair in modern-era boxing. The duo seems inseparable as protege and mentor. However, that hasn’t stopped the boxing world from fantasizing about a matchup between them.

Although ‘Tank’ and ‘TBE’ hail from two different eras, they have a lot in common. Both men tasted success in the early stage of their careers, becoming unbeaten world champions in their respective journeys. While 44-year-old Mayweather is still accepting exhibition bouts, The Big Podcast asked Gervonta Davis about entering the ring against the retired boxer in a possible showdown.

In response, ‘Tank’ said, “I don’t think I will do it. My main focus is to watch him because I can learn so much from him, talking about Floyd. And I know myself, if I get in there with somebody, it’s gonna be a timed out, I wanna hurt him and I will never do that thing, just learn from him.”

Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis has always been respectful towards the five-division champion. Meanwhile, Mayweather has expressed similar opinions on the youngster. Hence, the fighter-promoter relationship doesn’t seem to have contracted any scratch, even though people have tried to create one. That said, Mayweather is looking to hunt down bigger matchups for his prodigy.

After retiring from the sport, Floyd Mayweather has dived deep into the boxing business, thereby attracting several A-listers to his promotion. Mayweather Promotions already holds several elite youngsters and Gervonta Davis appears to be the biggest name in the slot. The 26-year-old is already a multi-weight champion and has several more years to see as a professional boxer.

Hence, Floyd Mayweather can rightly form a PPV star who would bring an enormous spotlight to his promotion. Although Davis is already doing that, the future seems to hold even more for the undefeated world champion.
