The spectacle at the Cowboys Stadium ended on a high note. Both Jake Paul and Mike Tyson showered appreciation and respect for each other. They shook hands and hugged following their eight-round bout in front of nearly seventy thousand spectators and millions of fans all over the world. Their match followed the light welterweight class between Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor. With each round limited to just two minutes instead of the standard three, the Tyson-Paul fight lasted the full distance, captivating the audiences to the final bell.
Thankfully, neither of the fighters sustained injuries during the bout. Fans were more concerned about 58-year-old ‘Iron’ Mike as he entered the ring four years after the exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. The fight sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation showcased both fighters’ resilience. However, regulatory guidelines now require both Paul and Mike Tyson to take an enforced period of rest before considering a return to the ring.

According to the stipulated requirements stated by the regulatory body, for each round fought, both Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will need to take three days’ rest. So that makes it to 24 days of inactivity. The fight didn’t witness any knockdowns nor ended in one. Nevertheless, to ensure health and safety for both fighters, such precautions often come into play to ensure they get full rest before making a comeback.

As far as traditional boxing goes, there are quite a few instances when fighters were suspended so that they could pay enough attention to their health and well-being. One of the best examples in recent memory remains that of the March 30 PBC-Amazon Prime headliner between Sebastian Fundora and Tim Tszyu. Theirs became a genuine case because of the heavy punishment both the boxers took during their high-octane exchange that left Tszyu with a deep gash on his head. Both Fundora and Tszyu received a six-week suspension.
It’s highly unlikely that Paul nor Tyson rush back to the ring anytime soon. After the slapgate incident during the final face-off, Jake Paul raged, “I didn’t even feel it. He’s an angry little elf. Mike Tyson, I thought that was a cute slap, buddy, but tomorrow you’re getting knocked the f**k out. I’m f**king him up, Ariel. I’m f**king him up. He hits like a b**ch. It’s personal now… He must die.”

Though uncertain, Mike Tyson gave hints about his future forays into the ring. “I don’t know. It depends on the situation,” he said. ‘Absolutely happy’ with his performance against a thirty-year-younger opponent, ‘Iron’ Mike pointed at Logan Paul when asked about a future opponent.
After the fight, Jake Paul, extending his deep respects for Mike Tyson, messaged, “Mike Tyson, this is such an honor. He’s the greatest to ever do it. He is an icon. It was an honor to fight him. He was exactly what I thought he would be.”
