Tommy Fury vs. Darren Till had it all. Heated press conferences, John Fury theatrics, and verbal warfare. But it seems the fans are robbed of this entertaining fight. Why? What happened exactly?
Fury vs. Till Misfits DAZN event had been booked for January 18 in Manchester. However, that’s not the case anymore. It all started with the Fury family patriarch throwing water on Till, 31, which caused an uproar at the press conference.
The result—the former UFC fighter threatening to resort to his MMA skills, particularly his kicking, in case he was on the track to drop the fight inside the ring. This proclamation didn’t sit well with Fury, 25, who eventually decided to pull the plug on the fight altogether.

Fury, at 10-0, turned to his social media handles and announced the fight’s cancelation. He admitted that he feared Till, at 1-0 in the boxing exhibition record, not adhering to the pro boxing rules. He wrote, “For the one simple reason being that Darren has stated over and over that he does not want to abide by professional boxing rules and that if he is loosing the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics.”
In the same message, ‘TNT’ disclosed that his camp was already in the talks to get a new opponent and a date. In addition, he assured boxing fans of a better opponent and a better fight. But, as expected, the announcement didn’t sit well with Till, who took to his social media handles to vent out his frustration in an X-rated call-out.

‘The Gorilla’ revealed he was in the gym, sparring, when he heard the news of Fury withdrawing. He clarified that his threat to kick was mere mental warfare to gain a psychological edge. He also pointed out he would never throw a kick in a boxing match, confirming his attitude of sticking to the boxing rules.

Till said, “I said I’d kick him in the head at the press conference as a mental warfare tactic. And since then, I haven’t said anything else… I’ve been hard at work, boxing for two years, haven’t thrown a kick in two years. I threw one kick on a video as a mental warfare tactic. Never in a million years would I throw a headkick in a fight that’s only boxing rules. I stick to the rules, I abide by the rules throughout my whole career.”
