Why is Tyson Fury Silent on Deontay Wilder?

Soon after Deontay Wilder broke his silence almost eight months after dropping the WBC heavyweight championship to Tyson Fury, fans were eagerly waiting for ‘The Gypsy King’ to address the serious accusations made against him. However, the British heavyweight has been silent on the same.

Earlier, Wilder took to Twitter, where he made multiple accusations against the WBC champion. ‘The Bronze Bomber’ claimed that Fury cheated in both the bouts and called him a “thief.” He added that Fury tampered with his gloves and the gap gave him a significant advantage in both the bouts. Additionally, he accused ‘The Gypsy King’ of adding egg-weights that left a dent in his skull.

Moreover, Wilder also blamed Fury for scratching his ears which he believed ultimately lead to bleeding. Wilder had also stated that the “40-pound” suit that he had worn during the walk-out in the rematch wore out his legs. He said that it affected his performance inside the ring and regretted the decision.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ did not stop here. He rained down on his former trainer, Mark Breland, and blamed him for spiking his water. Furthermore, he made countless other “excuses” as per the boxing world. While there are those who are taking Wilder’s side considering Fury’s past incident of the issue with the gloves before the fight, hardly anyone is buying the story.

Is Tyson Fury guilty?

UFC analyst and podcaster Joe Rogan lashed out at Deontay Wilder for making excuses. Boxing promoters Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren have also shot back at Wilder’s claims. Dillian Whyte went to the length of saying that ‘The Bronze Bomber’ will likely be out of the boxing ring for a couple of years.

Needless to say, Wilder’s claims can be easily proven by the commission, which is as strict as it gets. Moreover, there’s no reason to believe that Fury could have gotten away by doing something of that length especially, in a huge rematch. Earlier, WBC interim heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk had stated that Wilder’s accusations are nothing but “cuckoo.”

Why is the Gypsy King silent?

In a way, addressing those situations could lead many to believe that ‘The Gypsy King‘ is trying to clear his name. Mark Breland has not commented much after being sacked for his decision to throw in the towel, which many believe was a career-saving move in favor of Wilder. Similarly, there’s no reason for Fury to address these controversies and pay heed to the former champion’s comments.

With the two-fight deal in place against unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, it makes complete sense for Fury to keep his attention on things that are more important to him as he seeks to capture the unified gold. The contract that promised a trilogy has expired. Hence, Tyson Fury may be of the opinion that it’s time he moved on from Deontay Wilder.
