“Why Is Boxing Corrupt”: Furious Fans Vent Out at Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou Controversial Decision

One of the biggest crossover boxing events surprisingly ended in a controversial split decision. Both fighters put their heart out, but everybody was shocked by the performance of the MMA fighter Francis Ngannou against the WBC Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. At first, Ngannou dominated the fight as he even delivered a third-round knockdown with a clear left hook. But in the second half, Fury picked up the pace and started keeping Ngannou at arm’s length with his constant jabs at the former UFC fighter. As it turns out, Ngannou’s aggressive style after the third round was kept at bay by Fury’s jabs.

Still, there were moments when ‘Predator’ seemed like a veteran boxer and it didn’t look like his debut fight. Notably, the teachings of Mike Tyson came in handy for Ngannou. Nonetheless, Fury ended up getting the lead in two out of three judges’ scorecards (96-93, 94-95, 95-94).

However, the fans were in disagreement with this decision, as they believed this fight should have been in favor of the former UFC champion.

Fans reject the outcome of Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou bout

The fans reacted to the decision, the moment it was announced. They weren’t satisfied with the results and protested against it on X. All of them stood in favor of Francis Ngannou, even though the punch stats point in the direction of Fury’s victory.

As per CompuBox, Fury landed 71 punches out of 223 which gives him around 31.8% of accuracy. While, Ngannou landed only 59 out of 231, which places him at 25.5%. Not only this, Ngannou also lagged behind in the total jabs and power punches accuracy rates in comparison to the latter. Still, many fans felt Ngannou won.

One of the fans expressed their anger about the results and stated that Fury didn’t win the fight in any manner.

They even went ahead to call the sport “corrupt”.

Another fan also didn’t agree with the decision, and disregarded it by calling it “rigged“.

One fan talked about how such a decision is completely unfair for Ngannou who fought for the first time as a boxer.

A fan talked about how this fight was completely biased and “b**locks”.

An X user stated that boxing has become a joke because there’s no way ‘The Gypsy King’ won that fight.

The fans were not having it when the decision was announced. Many thought that the judges scored the fight in favor of the seasoned professional boxer rather than being fair to the MMA fighter.
