After his relentless pressure, Joe Smith Jr. finally got an opening in round 9. First, he shook Geffrard with a cracking left hook, took him to the ropes, and landed a barrage of punches. This prompted the referee to step in and conclude proceedings.

The champ landed 35% of his attempted body shots and 16% of his attempted jabs. On top of this, Smith Jr. stole the show with his power punch accuracy of 59%. He also landed more punches in each one of the nine rounds of this fight.

In total, Smith Jr. landed 233 punches and Geffrard could only land 81 in the entire fight.

WBO light-heavyweight champion Joe Smith Jr. had a fine outing against Steve Geffrard in every way. He not just won the fight, but also banked a substantial amount courtesy of his impressive in-ring display.

For this fight, Smith Jr. was guaranteed $400k with a 60% share in PPV earnings. As a result, he made a total of $1 million for this fight. On the other hand, Geffrard was guaranteed $75k, with a 40% PPV share. In the end, he made a mere $250k.
