Vergil Ortiz Jr. might return to action in early 2022, hoping to continue his undefeated record and 100% KO streak. The 23-year-old has had two bouts in 2021, where he successfully grabbed and defended the WBO International welterweight title. While the 18-0 run validates him for a world title shot, it can still take time to happen.
The current welterweight division seems to have outlined a plan to unify the WBC, IBF, and WBA belts by putting Errol Spence Jr. against Yordenis Ugas in-ring. WBO champion Terence Crawford may not be interested to put his belt at stake against a surging star in Vergil Ortiz Jr.
Hence, the American youngster may have to defend his WBO International strap yet again. But he won’t lack quality competition. Per reports, he shall return to the ring in the early stage of 2022 and take on another undefeated prodigy like him. Besides, his potential opponent holds more professional experience than him.
