March 1, 2025, could very well be the most significant date in Lamont Roach’s life. For him, this fight is more than just his first time headlining a PPV, more than a shot at facing one of the best pound-for-pound fighters, Gervonta Davis, for his title—it’s about something much deeper. This bout represents the culmination of every sacrifice his father, Lamont Roach Sr., has made for his boxing journey.
Roach Sr. has been the foundation of his son’s career, igniting his love for the sport and guiding him through every challenge along the way. Now, with ‘The Reaper’ on the cusp of realizing his dreams, the stakes couldn’t be higher. And with Davis making this personal by disrespecting Roach’s father, Lamont has no intention of letting this opportunity slip through his fingers.

All about Lamont Roach Jr.’s father
Lamont Roach Sr. is a respected figure in the boxing world and is widely known for his role as a coach, manager, and promoter. As a co-founder of the NoXcuse Boxing Club in the nation’s capital, he has played an influential role in guiding various young boxers, and undoubtedly his greatest find has been his own son.
When the WBA super featherweight champion was just 9 years old, Roach Sr. took him to his boxing gym. The 29-year-old learned the basics of boxing in Capitol Heights and the club enriched him with values of discipline and hard work. The NoXcuse club not only aims to produce good boxers but also responsible adults.
While Roach Sr. was training his son since the latter’s childhood, their relationship took a professional turn in 2014. As the 25-1-1 fighter signed his first professional deal with Golden Boy Promotions, Roach Sr. stepped into the role of manager.

Taking the mantle as head coach, a role he continues to fill, guiding his son in every match.
