Michael Jai White has, over the years, established himself as one of the leading actors in Hollywood’s action genre. He has been a lifelong practitioner of several martial arts forms. The 56-year-old Brooklyn, New York-born actor-director, first made an impression playing out none other than one of boxing’s greatest, Mike Tyson, in the 1995 HBO television movie ‘Tyson.‘ As it turned out, enacting ‘Iron’ Mike wasn’t the only connection Michael Jai White had with the sport. He spoke to DJ Vlad in an exclusive interview.
Michael Jai White has in-depth knowledge of regular martial styles such as Karate, Taekwondo, Tang Soo Do, Wushu, and Jiu-Jitsu. However, the star of famous movies such as ‘Mortal Kombat‘ and ‘Universal Soldier‘ has a firm grasp over sweet science as well. Not long ago, similar to the one with Jai White, VLAD TV uploaded a fantastic interview with Evander Holyfield. When shown to Michael Jai White, he shared an all-together intriguing link to the former heavyweight champion.

The martial arts actor-director shared his thoughts about the Evander Holyfield interview series. He said, “I mean, you know that’s I actually was watching that today… the uh Holyfield thing because you like I’m just getting back trying to catch up on on things.” Then he recalled the time when he was directing a movie. As a result, both he and his wife were occupied with the project. They needed someone to take care of their children. So help came when ‘The Real Deal’s former assistant stepped in to take over the responsibility.
Jai White revealed, “.…that’s one of the things since you know we have a connection with that because, um his assistant is, you know, who was while I was directing the movie; yeah, his ex-assistant is the person that’s watching my children; yeah, while my wife and I were gone doing this movie.” Then the interviewer also mentioned how he had spoken with the person to gain more insights into Evander Holyfield’s life.
Clearly, it’s a small world. In 2015, at the Arnold Sports Festival, along with actor-professional kickboxer Don ‘The Dragon’ Wilson and ‘Triple H,’ both Michael Jai White and Evander Holyfield were inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame.

Later, they also discussed about the fight against another boxing great, George Foreman. Though the 1991 bout, where Holyfield defended his heavyweight titles, ended in his victory, ‘The Real Deal’ remembered it more for the hardest hit he’s ever received.
