In the world of boxing, promoters play a crucial role in bringing forth spectacles that the audience wants to watch. One of the most notable and popular promoters in recent times has been Al-Haymon. The American promoter has been associated with many great talents. Deontay Wilder, Terence Crawford, and Floyd Mayweather are just a few names who have been managed or continue to be managed by him. However, the CEO of PBC boxing promotions is quite a polarizing figure. Many critics think he has done more harm than good to the sport. Not to mention, many of his colleagues have made their disdain for him known in public. Back in 2015, ‘Golden Boy Promotions,’ filed a $300 million federal lawsuit against him. In addition, according to Box. raw, many networks are reluctant to work with him because he tends to turn the tables during negotiations. Safe to say that, he does not have a clean slate.

However, in a recent turn of events, a legendary boxing promoter, while addressing the criticism, asserts that the 68-year-old is a worthy candidate for Hall of Fame entry. This leads to a question, Who is this legendary boxer making a case for Al-Haymon? And why, despite all the controversy surrounding Haymon’s name, is he advocating for his nomination and subsequent induction? On X, boxing promoter, Lou Di Bella set the record straight. The 63-year boxing promoter has shaped the landscape of the sport in multiple ways. Throughout his career, the American promoter supported female boxing. To the extent that female boxing would not be what it is without him. Moreover, he is an opinionated individual and it is evident from his Tweets.  In a recent Tweet, Di Bella asserted that Haymon, without a question should be nominated to be a part of the ballot for the Hall of Fame induction given his contribution. He made his assertion while acknowledging the fact that Haymon is polarizing. But despite that, he thinks Haymon has a solid case to be a future Hall of Famer. Reflecting on the same, on X, he stated, “Al Haymon should be on the @boxinghal of Fame ballot. That really shouldn’t be debatable. He has had well over two decades of the highest level of influence in #boxing. Polarizing? So what. Whatever narratives you advance, he belongs on the ballot and is a future Hall of Famer.”

However, at the same time, in another tweet, he claimed that Haymon would most likely not turn up if he is inducted. He thinks Haymon does not want to be seen in public and desires to continue “Ghost-Like,” aura. He added, “… One thing for sure: if he gets on the ballot and is elected, he won’t show up for the induction. Al’s ghost-like persona is undoubtedly impacting nominators as it would voters. Still should be on the ballot.”
