Andy Ruiz Jr. and Deontay Wilder were ordered by the WBC last year to engage in an eliminator bout for a shot at Tyson Fury’s heavyweight championship belt. Despite the huge opportunity, the fight failed to materialize due to unsuccessful negotiations. Both giants of the heavyweight division failed to reach a mutually acceptable agreement regarding the purse split. However, Ruiz continued to troll Wilder in order to get him to accept the bout. Ultimately the WBC called off the eliminator bout and stated that they will look for other suitable options to put against Fury.
Moreover, he also almost landed a fight against Fury himself, however, he simply asked too much from the fighter which ended up in him losing out on a potential blockbuster fight. In a tweet, Fury even cussed him out for asking too much money. He said, “Andy Ruiz is after $20 million, silly little bard I don’t know where he is getting that from”.
Meanwhile, against Wilder he was asking for a substantial $10 million. He even took to Instagram at the time revealing, “They’re trying to pay me what I made for my last fight. It doesn’t make sense.” He asked for a 50/50 split, and the fight couldn’t be made in the end.

However, now that Fury is going to face Francis Ngannou and Wilder is looking forward to a fight against Anthony Joshua next year, Ruiz is still looking out for a lucrative fight offer. The year is almost over and Ruiz sees no big fight coming any time soon. He recently made a video calling out all the big names of the division stating, “I’m ready.” He even told Wilder that he is ready for another contract. In the caption he wrote, “Let the heavy weight duck farm know i’m ready”. ‘The Destroyer’ is looking for the fight, however, it doesn’t seem that he will get his wish for now.
Moreover, he openly challenged fighters like Deontay Wilder, AJ, Usyk, and ‘The Gypsy King.’ He said, “Yo, everybody is asking, “When am I gonna fight? Why don’t I fight Wilder?” Nobody wants to fight. I’m staying ready, baby. Tell Joshua, “Let’s do the trilogy.” Tell Wilder, “I’m ready; make me another contract.” Usyk, Tyson Fury—everybody wants to go through the shortcut, but I’m here, baby. Working, baby.”
Fans reaction to Andy Ruiz Jr. sharing his desire for a match-up
As the video surfaced on social media, fans were quick to share their disagreement in the comments section. Many called the boxer out for not taking the fight before when he had the chance. One fan asked Ruiz why he wasn’t so enthusiastic when he had the chance to fight in the eliminator bout. He wrote, “Where was this energy when you had the title.. cmon man.”

Another fan added that Ruiz Jr. “Blew it” by “asking for way too much money.” He advised the boxer to simply just accept the money offered, then win the fight and “make the rules.” Furthermore, he added, “Otherwise, keep training. But don’t get rusty. Good luck.”
Bro 🫵 blew it, and now. You’re asking for way too much money. Just take a fight, win. Then 🫵 make the rules.
Otherwise, keep training. But don’t get rusty.
Good luck.

Meanwhile, a fan stated that he finds it difficult to “hate” Ruiz. He wrote that Ruiz is a “happy soul that wants to fight.” The fan gave his best wishes to Ruiz Jr.

However, one fan wrote a stinging remark stating that Ruiz “don’t wanna fight” the boxers he is calling out. He claimed that Ruiz just keeps “asking and asking” for more money. He advised the boxer to just take less and fight the other contenders. The fan stated that Ruiz could be earning money and would’ve had “2 fights by now” if he were open to taking the fight for less.
You don’t wanna fight them. You want like 10 million. And now you keep asking and asking . It’ll happen if you take less bro lol js say tell wilder n Joshua I’ll take less and the fight happens. Ure wasting ure last years .. u coulda been stacking up bread. & had 2 fights by now

In the same vein, another fan advised him to take Wilder’s challenge and not add so many conditions. He told the boxer to “drop the excuses and sign the contract.”

Be more humble and accept Wilder’s challenge without so many conditions. Because if you are really going to destroy him as you say, you will be the only winner of the night in payment for PPV if you win by KO. So drop the excuses and sign the contract.
