Is Shadasia Green the next big thing in boxing, or just another hype? What do you think?

Nothing is more dangerous than a tigress who has just lost a fight, bruised, battered, angry, and aching for revenge. Shadasia Green has only lost once in her 14 professional boxing matches, and it was in her most recent matchup with Franchon Crews Dezurn. However, she is returning to reclaim her position with her impending bout this coming weekend.

Even the greatest champions in boxing have lost in this treacherous sport. Similar is the case with Green, who was a champion in her own right. She reigned as the WBC silver super middleweight champion. Green is now, nonetheless, ravenous and wants to simply enter the boxing ring and smash. But ahead of her clash, let’s dive deeper into where she is from and know more about her background.

Shadasia was born on August 7th, 1989. Her parents, Rechelle and Gregory Green resided in Paterson, New Jersey. She has always been a kid who was passionate about sports, mainly basketball. Even so, she started boxing at age 15 to get in a better physical shape for basketball. Popularly known as ‘The Sweet Terminator’ in the boxing world, Green attended Patterson East Side High School. Following that, she earned her degree in Recreation and Tourism Studies from Old Dominion University. Well, there’s an interesting story about her graduation.

When Green was a teenager, she developed a deep love for boxing and decided to give it her all. She wanted to train for the boxing Olympics. But, she didn’t want to attend school and wanted to stay home for her training. She was good at academics and even received offer letters from schools offering full scholarships. But her mom convinced her to get a degree first and then follow her passion.

So she kept her mother’s word and completed her degree. Rechelle was the biggest supporter of her daughter after she got her degree. Funnily, Green calls her mom as “the loudest one in the building”. Let’s take a look at who else is part of her family.

The 5’8” boxer had a very close-knit family. She has three brothers, Gregory, Tyras, and Tydis, and also a sister, Tiarah. Sadly, the kids lost their father at a very young age. However, Shadasia keeps her dad’s memories close to her heart. She frequently posts her dad’s photos on social media. Interestingly, Green probably got the boxing genes from her grandfather. He was a professional boxer who trained with one of the ‘4 kings of boxing’, Marvin Hagler.

Rechelle first put forth a condition in front of her daughter to pursue boxing. But after that, she is the one who instilled the essential qualities in her. She says that she “can’t get away from her (mother’s) coaching.” Apart from her blood relations, she also has a loving partner by her side. Green married her long-time girlfriend, Desha Bland, in 2022, at the Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. She called it a “dream wedding” in her wedding post on Instagram.

Circling back to her boxing career, ‘The Sweet Terminator’ was signed by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions last year. She even defeated Olivia Curry on the undercard of Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz. Moreover, she will be seen on Paul’s undercard again in his bout with Mike Perry on July 20th. The 34-year-old will be squaring off against Canadian boxer, Natasha Spence. Her followers believe she will electrify Tampa’s Amalie Arena to show off her might in light of her most recent defeat. What do you think about the 5’8” boxer’s next fight?
