Bare-knuckle fighter Mike Perry is gearing up to fight YouTuber turned-boxer Jake Paul on July 20th, at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. Perry feels that this is his chance to shine and will make the most of it by putting in his best effort. He has been a UFC fighter with a 14-8 record. Then he joined the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship in 2021. Now ‘Platinum’ will be seen fighting for a second time inside the boxing ring against someone who everyone wants to take a swing at.
With his return to boxing, Mike Perry is on a quest to achieve notoriety by becoming the only MMA guy to defeat Jake Paul, a feat that hasn’t been achieved by Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, and Ben Askren. If ‘Platinum’ prevails, it would definitely open doors for him to make a name for himself in the world of boxing. Despite the fact that Jake Paul is the fight’s betting favorite, Perry may benefit from his reputation as the underdog. The 32-year-old fighter was born on September 15th, 1991 in Flint, Michigan. But he grew up in the Navy in Apopka, Florida with his father. Despite being born and raised in the US, Mike Perry claims to be related to African-descent fighters Francis Ngannou and Israel Adesanya. But how? Perry once appeared on Brendan Schaub‘s Thiccc Boy podcast hosted. As the latter asked Perry about his ethnicity, he replied, “If you didn’t know man I’m everything… They say I’m Nigerian because I got a little bit, tiny-tiny bit of African. You know I’m related to Francis (Francis Ngannou) and Izzy (Israel Adesanya), from the waist down.”
Since he has a son with a woman of Mexican descent, he thinks of his son as Mexican too. By extension, he thinks of himself as being part Mexican too. In the same interview, Mike Perry revealed himself as a Caucasian, Indian, African, and Mexican, calling himself a “mutt”. He stated, “I’m a Caucasian, I’m an Indian. I’m African, I’m Mexican… I’m a real mutt man. I’m an American!”
The Flint native had a rough and impoverished childhood. He was ultimately forced to commit robberies as a result of this, and he went to prison for it as well.
