Canelo Alvarez and Jermell Charlo are going to go toe-to-toe against each other. The latter will move up two weight divisions to challenge Alvarez’s undisputed Super Middleweight title. The Mexican champion proved to the world that he could still wear gloves as he took on John Ryder. It should be remembered that the Charlo match would be his 64th fight in a two-decade-long career. But that stat may work against him if the words of his former rival, Floyd Mayweather Jr., are believed. Nevertheless, judging by how they reacted to a post, fans would have none of it.

In an interview with FightHype, Floyd Mayweather Jr. mentioned that boxing involves a lot of “wear and tear.” He said, “You can get old overnight. You can; it’s how boxing is.” Boxing Social‘s Facebook page shared a post. The message read, “Floyd Mayweather with [a] stark warning to Canelo ahead of [the] Charlo fight.” Many who saw the message perhaps didn’t appreciate it.

Fans react to the statements of Floyd Mayweather regarding Canelo Alvarez’s age

It’s a different fact that there are instances where Mayweather Jr. has consistently sided with Alvarez, even during the “cherry-picking” allegations. One of the fans, Pedro Lopez, wrote about why Mayweather Jr. always has to pitch his views on everything that’s gaining even a little attention. They wrote, “Whenever there is a big fight, why does this clown [Mayweather] [have to be] part of it? And please don’t chew with your mouth open! That’s feeding yourself [one o 1]!

Another fan, Andrew Middleton, took Alvarez’s side in opposition to ‘The Money’ about not being picky about his opponents. They wrote, “At least Canelo will fight anyone not picking and choosing.”

Given his current remarks on Alvarez, one fan, Jonathan Ortega, recalled Mayweather Jr.’s statements about Errol Spence Jr. They wrote, “But with his boy Spence, ‘he was too big for the division, and he [should’ve] fought at 168’ until Terrance Crawford whooped his azz“.

Julio C. Delgado talked about Alvarez’s power and that he’ll knock both Charlo brothers out. Calling him the “face of boxing,” they wrote, “Canelo Is Going To Knockout Both Of The Charlos [Brothers] Out, One Of Them This Year n The Other One Next Year On May. He’s Going To Show Why He’s Still The Face Of Boxing.

But a user named Shaquetta Thesketchartist talked about the unfortunate fate of Canelo if he goes against Mayweather Jr. They wrote, “I don’t think that Canelo has a chance against Floyd Mayweather.

The fans didn’t agree with Mayweather Jr. on his point regarding Canelo Alvarez’s age. ‘Pretty Boy’ himself retired at the age of 41. So, technically, the fans perhaps took that as a frame of reference and deducted that Alvarez still had at least eight years to go in the sport. So what are your thoughts about this?
