Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving showcased a stellar performance at the Nets vs Knicks game on Wednesday. Former world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. took to social media to show his support for Irving.

Mayweather posted a picture of him with Irving on Instagram. He further showed his support by saying, “We cannot be stopped as long as we stand on what we believe in. Nephew when I speak just listen. @kyrieirving I?m proud of you.”
Irving scored 24 points, with 8 rebounds, and 7 assists in the game. The Nets, after being behind for the entire first half managed a crucial comeback win against the New York Knicks.

Mayweather’s support comes at a time when Irving received flak for confronting a fan. Mayweather had previously shown his support for Irving’s vaccine stance.

Kyrie was in the news recently for confronting a fan at the Knicks game on Wednesday.

Irving was angry at something that a fan said during the game. Irving squared up to the fan on his way back to the locker room. Television cameras showed Irving sharing seemingly harsh words with the fan.

Talking about the incident, Irving told reporters, “East Coast basketball at its finest, people just yelling s*** from the crowd, Wanted the reaction, they got one.”
However, Irving feels he confronted the wrong person.
He apologized by saying, “I tapped the wrong person, so I apologize. Some random guy, he looked at me with a surprise on his face.”
Floyd Mayweather has also confronted a fan
Mayweather had also confronted a fan in 2017. Mayweather and McGregor were having a tense stand-off at their final press conference ahead of their boxing match.

During the face-off, a Mayweather fan was seen shouting warnings at McGregor. Mayweather raised his hand, asking the fan to quiet down.
Further, Mayweather goes on to call out the fan, saying, “Saturday night, after the fight, I want you to come over there. You won’t be speaking the same words. Mark my word.”
McGregor also chimed in by asking Mayweather to throw the fan out. However, the fan quieted down after the harsh reaction from both the athletes.
