After Francis Ngannou took many by surprise by knocking down Tyson Fury and losing only by a controversial split decision, ‘The Predator’ is now looking for his next prey. Names such as Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua and Jon Jones have come up. Wilder, once hailed as one of boxing’s fiercest punchers, finds himself at a crossroads after two surprising losses to Fury. Despite a triumphant return with a knockout victory against Robert Helenius, Wilder stands beltless.

In a twist, he is entertaining the notion of stepping into the octagon, eyeing a potential clash with the UFC heavyweight powerhouse. The Cameroonian warrior recently shifted from the UFC to the PFL, sparking speculation about crossovers. Good news for fans, a mixed-rule fight between the two might finally materialise.

Don Davis recently revealed that he is working on making a mixed-rule fight between Ngannou and Wilder. In an interview with Brian Custer, Ngannou was asked about whether the statement was true or not. To this, Ngannou replied “For sure, I’m in a business with PFL, I’m in a contract with them. I owe PFL a fight so whatever they say is not a lie, first of all. And secondly, the conversation of a mixed rule fight with Deontay Wilder or so is true because even before this fight, they have been bringing that out of discussion. So, those are true.”

The talks about the fight have been brewing for a while now. Moreover, post signing a contract with PFL, Ngannou is looking forward to any fight they suggest. The prospect of facing Wilder looms large as a potential highlight in Ngannou’s already illustrious career. In a conversation with The Sun, Wilder enthusiastically embraces the idea of a showdown with Ngannou as well.
