There are very few instances when Mike Tyson leaves an opponent without a stingy sensation on their skin after pulling a heavy-handed punch. In most cases, it’s a full-blown war, with his aggression dominating the fight and the sounds of his blows exploding on the body. Will it be the case when the boxing legend takes on Jake Paul? It seems one of his friends wants to have a different fight, in contrast to what he did in his heyday.
Tyson, 58, sat down with Logan Paul on his famed IMPAULSIVE podcast and the two discussed WWE, their boxing experience, and the former heavyweight champion’s coming fight with the younger of the Paul brothers. While there have been concerns about Tyson’s age and his slowed-down reflexes, fans, and pundits still hold his devastating power in high regard. So, there are also chances of ‘Problem Child’ getting hit and lying on the canvas, face flat. But it’s not a visual that Tyson’s friend wants to see.
When asked what his squad thought about his fight with Paul, 27, the 50-6 record holder recalled the call he had with his friend. Tyson admitted that his friend didn’t want him to hurt his opponent. He said, “My friend called me, ‘Don’t hurt him, Mike. You better do that sh*t’.” Naturally, the elder of the Paul brothers, Logan, puzzled, asked, “Wait, what? Your friend is vouching for Jake?”

‘Baddest Man on Planet’ continued and reaffirmed it. He added, “Yeah, but he said, ‘Don’t hurt him. [He is a] YouTuber. Don’t hurt him, Mike’. He’s in the ring with me. What the f*ck are you talking about?”

The boxing community at large is divided over how to perceive the fight. Whether Tyson should go for the kill or should he reserve his gas tank and see it through? Then there are troubles with the Brooklyn native’s health, including his sciatica, recent hip surgery, and stamina. On the other hand, his opponent still lacks experience and hasn’t tested him against the best. Still, Tyson is not taking the 10-1 record holder lightly.
Mike Tyson wants to get Jake Paul before he gets too good
Tyson also shed light on how he saw Paul. And ‘Iron Mike’ is not underestimating him. He admitted, “I look at him as a killer. That’s how I look at him. That’s why I got to get him before he gets too good.”
