Vasyl Lomachenko is one of the most respected combat sports personalities of all time. The 33-year-old’s trajectory in the sport is impeccable. Moreover, he witnessed a cracking amateur career, winning all his fights except for one. On top of this, Lomachenko represented his country twice in the Olympics, in 2008, and 2012, winning gold both times.

What weight did Vasyl Lomachenko fight?

Lomachenko took up his very first professional boxing bout in 2013. In this encounter, he locked horns with Jose Luis Ramirez for the WBO international featherweight title. Putting his power to the play, the southpaw boxer attained a KO win in round 4.

But in his next fight itself, Lomachenko suffered a setback when he lost to Orlando Salido.

Despite this loss, the Olympian collected himself to bounce back in his next fight against Gary Russell Jr. The pair fought for the vacant WBO featherweight title, and ‘Loma’ proved his class by beating Russell Jr. via an MD.

This was Lomachenko‘s first world title win in the pro-boxing space. Post this, there was no turning back for the Ukrainian boxer. Piling on to the top, Lomachenko gained mammoth stardom by putting on some exemplary performances in the featherweight roster.

In 2018, ‘Loma’ met Jorge Linares for the WBA lightweight title, and he won this bout with a sensational T/KO in round 10.

For now, he competes in the lightweight roster only, but in the coming years, ‘Loma’ might elevate in a weight class.
