Chris Billam-Smith, the well-known former WBO cruiserweight champ, is all prepared to fight Brandon Glanton on April 26 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The bout is an undercard in the Conor Benn-Chris Eubank Jr. main event grudge match. Though a non-title match, the opportunity holds immense value for Billam-Smith. Stakes are high because this fight is his return to the ring, 5 months after he lost to Gilberto Zurdo Ramirez.

Facing multiple injuries during that November 2024 bout, The Gentleman will finally make his first step towards regaining the world champion status. You see, Billam-Smith lost his WBO and WBA unification bout to Ramirez by unanimous decision. Despite starting strong, landing a right hook, eventually, he struggled with Ramirez’s speed and accuracy. Though the champion had fought back and finished an entire 12 rounds.

Resulting in significant injuries, including a broken right thumb, cuts above his left eye and nose, and impaired vision later in the match. And even as he approaches his upcoming showdown, his vision is slightly blurred.  For all the resilience he’d earned praise, one of them being Viddal Riley, from his own division. Later, he was hospitalized in Riyadh for over eight hours, receiving treatment. All of that makes a win against Glanton not a choice, but a necessity.

As for endorsements, Billam-Smith has secured deals with sports brands like Everlast and JD Sports.  And that must be contributing to his income significantly, too. These partnerships are a leverage from his previously growing profile as the world champion and fan favorite. Then, he also earns from branded merchandise sales. For example, apparel tied to his The Gentleman persona resonates dearly with his Bournemouth fan base. Although endorsement figures are private, if one took a guess, boxers of his caliber usually get hundreds of thousands of dollars annually.

Moreover, like many other athletes do, Billam-Smith may also be making income through investments. Possibly in real estate, stocks, or other ventures. Considering his Bournemouth roots, it’s safe to say that he has potential local investments. Given the area’s strong real estate market. However, no public reports confirm his financial portfolio as of now. So, it would just be an arrow in a dark room to say so.

How much does Chris Billam-Smith earn? Boxing fight purse & salary

Talking of fight purse, his shares have been above $100k since he fought Tommy McCarthy in 2021. If we talk about Billam-Smith’s most recent matches, over the purses, he’s actually made more through pay-per-view revenue shares. In 2022, the bout against Issac Chamberlain brought him a split of $250k in the purse, while his total payout was $575k after PPV income.

Similarly, when Billam-Smith fought Armend Xhoxhaj in 2022, he made $200k through the purse, and the total payout was $600k. Then again, in 2023, he fought Lawrence Okolie ($300k purse, $950k total payout) and Mateusz Masternak ($350k purse, $900k total payout). And only last year, he’d fought Richard Riakporhe, which brought him $375k in the purse split and $1.1 million in the total payout. Notably, in the Ramirez ($850k purse), he earned a whopping $2.5 million total payout.

Billam-Smith’s wealth has grown steadily since his 2017 pro debut. In 2024 alone, there was a 40 percent increase due to his bout against Ramirez. Financially, things seem to be on the mellow side for the former cruiserweight champ. However, boxing-wise, he’ll need the win against Glanton to truly recover from the last loss. Especially when it was a major one. If he wins the upcoming match, he’ll be in a better position to take his shot at Jai Opetaia for the IBF belt.

Because Badou Jack is seemingly avoiding the fight despite Billam-Smith’s interest. But then, his injuries also have a say in the outcome this Saturday. And his financial stance could either rise or drop. What do you think would happen?
