In exciting news, Sunny Edwards will be entering the ring against Jessie ‘Bam’ Rodriguez in the month of December. Eddie Hearn‘s Matchroom Boxing had earlier announced in June that the two fighters have entered a contract to fight a flyweight unification bout. The 112-pound boxers will clash against each other in the US to see who amongst them is the better fighter in the weight class.

While Edwards will bring his IBF title to the table, Rodriguez will be defending his WBO title. 23-year-old Rodriguez took home the WBO belt after defeating Cristian Gonzalez through a unanimous decision in April. Edwards on the other hand successfully defended his title against Andres Campos in the month of June. As more details of their clash emerge, Sunny Edwards seems to be finding a more comfortable grip on the matchup. Or so he thinks.

Edwards’ Confidence Peaks Ahead of Bam Fight

In a candid conversation with Pro Boxing Fans, the 27-year-old Englishman elaborated on why he thinks he will emerge victorious against Bam Rodriguez. Riding high on his confidence of supposedly being the ‘best in the world‘ Edwards said, ” I’m telling people I’m the best in the world. I’m telling people that what I do no one else can do. All I got to do is one more time. 21 and 0. All I got to do is this one more time.” With an undefeated record of 20 fights, the fighter’s confidence does stem from his stellar performance in the ring.

Further, addressing the criticism he’s received from folks in the boxing ring, the fighter said, ” And I feel like the critics and the question marks and oh can he do this? He done it against him but can he do it this? Can be done it against him but can he? I think most of them will put to bet but at the same time I hope there’s more. I hope I beat him and get out of the ring.”

Sunny Edwards to Crush Bam’s Hype

Come December 16th, the two undefeated fighters will enter the ring in a bid to crush the other. While they prep hard to be the last man standing in the ring, Sunny Edwards seems to be getting more intense with each passing day. Edwards thanked promoter Hearn for getting this fight on the road. He said, “He [Eddie Hearn] delivered me on his promise. It took one fight longer than we both wanted, but we managed to bully Bam and his team into a corner. [Rodriguez] couldn’t run away any more, and now we’ll go to work.”

Addressing the loud hype that Bam has garnered in the boxing realm, Edwards said that he wishes to put a stop to it. He said, “I’m going to have him falling in all night, and I think I’m going to make him look silly in his backyard. Well, the closest thing.”
