Boxing is one of the most loved sports in the world. Over the course of time, the sport has become much more competitive and pugilists have turned super aggressive. This is because fans like seeing some action inside the squared circle and this is what they pay for. But at times, too much violence becomes extremely scary for fighters competing on the biggest of stages.
One such intimidating and perhaps spine-chilling incident took place in 2019 when Charles Conwell met Patrick Day inside the boxing ring. The duo was slated to take each other on in a USBA super-welterweight title fight.
C0nwell, the favorite, was in his element, and he kept attacking Day with a combination of offensive moves.

The Michigan native wanted a T/KO win and with his aggressive style. Finally, Conwell struck Day with his best shots, and he floored his adversary on the canvas in round 10. Day’s head slashed on the canvas and he fell unconscious.
A blood vessel burst in the thin space between his brain and protective covering behind the skull. Eventually, this space was filling with blood, thus deteriorating the oxygen flow. Later on, Day was taken to the hospital, wherein doctors removed a part of his skull to reduce stress on his brain.
Conwell, on the other hand, was disheartened, and he even wrote a note for Patrick Day.

Moving on, fate had some different plans for Day, and the boxing stalwart died a few days later, leaving everyone heartbroken.

A few months after this tragic incident, Conwell collected himself to go back in the ring.

He beat Ramses Agaton on his return, and until today, he’s kept fighting. Moreover, Conwell even displays an immaculate track record comprising 16 wins in total.
For anyone, getting past such a disastrous incident isn’t easy. However, Conwell has managed to move on from the same somehow, and now he’s building his career in the best way he can.
