A born Hindu, Goyat started his ascendency in boxing after he won the youth national title in 2008 and a bronze at the Youth Commonwealth Games in the same year. He would climb the boxing ladder and end up a three-time WBC Asia Championship winner in 2015, 2016, and 2017. Goyat would continue his surge, break into the WBC world ranking, and secure the 20th. This would then help bag a fight with the former world title contender Jose Zepeda.

He had even secured a fight with former world champion Amir Khan, but an accident cut short this ambitious fight in 2019. Since his return, the 18-4-2 record holder has launched an effective and successful social media strategy to boost his stocks and garner attention. This resulted in his 1.5 million Instagram followers and a celebrity-like status for him. However, he faces Nunes on November 15, who makes his professional debut. While the Brazilian fighter has fought in Misfits before, he is 0-1 there against Nathan Bartling. It might turn out to be an easier fight on paper for Goyat, but it remains to be seen how he fares on a bigger stage and whether he continues his impressive streak, as he is 9-1 in his last 10 fights.
