Jake Paul is about to lock horns with last-minute replacement Mike Perry on June 20th at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. So, Joe Rogan and the gang seem to have taken up charge to promote the upcoming fight during their recent podcast. Originally, it was Mike Tyson who was supposed to take on Jake Paul in Arlington, Texas on the same date.

However, because of an unforeseen stomach ulcer flareup, the fight had to be postponed to 15 November later this year. Regardless, former UFC fighter and BKFC contender, Mike Perry, is happy to take up Tyson’s duty. So on June 22nd, Joe Rogan and Brendan Schaub hyped up Perry during their Fight Companion segment of JRE on YouTube.

Schaub doesn’t think it’s a gimmick fight

During the podcast, Rogan brought up Perry’s upcoming eighth-round battle with Paul at cruiserweight, highlighting how crazy it is that people are actually counting out Mike Perry from having a chance at winning the bout. To this, Schaub immediately jumped into the conversation, stating, “Bro, it’s wild to me and then in all the comments like, ‘Oh dude, you must think it’s bare-knuckle, this is boxing’. And I’m like, ‘Oh, you don’t know what a fucking dog Mike Perry is.”

Frustrated with people’s careless assessment of the fight, the UFC veteran urged people to “do your goddamn research.” While Perry isn’t someone to be taken lightly, he never managed to secure a significant title in the UFC. It’s when he made his way to BKFC is when he gained recognition for defeating Eddie Alvarez to win the ‘King of Violence’ title. Regardless, Schaub predicts Perry will “get on your face for all eight” rounds against Jake Paul.

He even had an answer for people who think the upcoming clash is a gimmick, stating, “You are a f**king moron. But you were into the Mike Tyson fight?’ Get the f**k out of here”. However, what’s even more interesting is that Perry was considering facing someone else entirely.

Mike Perry reveals his canceled plan before Jake Paul fight

The Paul fight will be the biggest high-profile bout for ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry, as he comes face to face with the YouTuber-turned-boxer. While appearing in an interview on the MMA Hour, Perry revealed he was thinking about fighting Bellator fighter, IBJJF brown belt gold medalist Dillon Danis in an MMA match before the Paul fight offer came in.

He said, “I was still looking at that Dillon Danis fight. That wasn’t going to be a boxing match because we all saw how he performed in boxing… I was supposed to fight him after I beat up Jake Paul but after I beat Jake Paul, let’s be honest, I could just chill out for a bit.” ‘El Jefe’ fought Logan Paul last year, which turned out to be one of the worst boxing matches ever. And, of course, Danis lost the fight!

It’s yet to be seen whether Brendan Schuab’s praise of Mike Perry could hold up. However, it’s worth mentioning that Jake Paul has defeated Tyron Woodley and Nate Diaz, who were not only from UFC but were also champions in the UFC. Do you think Mike Perry could beat Jake Paul?
