The IBF flyweight titleholder, Sunny Edwards, recently announced that he has signed with promoter Eddie Hearn and his company Matchroom Boxing. Edwards secured his flyweight title in 2021 in a sensational showdown against Moruti Mthalane and has since defended it thrice. Meanwhile, it looks like Edwards signing with Hearn has paved the way for some sibling rivalry as he was called out by his older brother, Charlie Edwards, for a fight. And, this, in turn, paved the way for some brotherly Twitter beef.

The older Edwards released a video congratulating his brother for signing with Hearn. In the same vein, Charlie made it a point to state that Sunny would get more exposure after signing with Matchroom. He then mentioned, “Go out there, unify it, [be] undisputed bro. But, when you’re ready to get the real big fight, get on the phone Eddie [and] give me a call. Edwards vs. Edwards.” Notably, Charlie Edwards held the WBC flyweight title from 2018 to 2019.

This did not sit well with Sunny, who demanded that his brother apologizes for his remarks. Moreover, he added that he would be “slaughtering” him if he failed to do so. Since Charlie proceeded to incite him further, ‘Showtime’ was not too happy with his brother’s responses, and went on to give him an ultimatum of 9 hours. He also threatened to make him “quit boxing”.
