When celebrities sign autographs, stolen motorbikes aren’t typically part of the narrative. Yet, for Mike Tyson, a casual autograph session took a wild turn. On the bustling Westside Highway, as Tyson’s pen graced memorabilia, his cherished Ducati vanished. Not in broad daylight, you’d think? Oddly, yes.
But here’s the weirder part: the bike’s whereabouts led to an apartment, and then, a potential one-way ticket to the Dominican Republic. Not as a roaring beast, but bubble-wrapped, in parts. The legendary boxer’s reaction to the theft? Not exactly what you’d expect. Dive in to unravel the bizarre interplay of theft, a dismantled Ducati, and one very disgruntled boxing champion.

In the glitzy realm of celebrities, few tales emerge that genuinely perplex the mind, merging the world of crime with the grandeur of fame. So is the case of Mike Tyson and the mysterious theft of his Ducati.
It all began on what might have appeared as a regular day. Mike Tyson, the iconic boxer, chose to take a ride on his beloved Ducati. But as fate would have it, this ride would lead to an unexpected turn of events. Matthew Cox, a name now synonymous with unraveling true crime stories, recently shared the gripping details of this event, recounting the informant’s revelations.
Matthew said, “We had an informant. He calls my partner one day and he goes, ‘you’re not gonna believe this, we’re going down the westside highway and we see Mike Tyson driving on a Ducati. Tyson gets off his motorcycle, signs a couple of autographs and goes into the show. Horacio jumps on the back of Mike Tyson’s bike; brakes the ignition and he took off with Mike Tyson’s Ducati.’ I go, where is it? He goes it’s in Horacio’s apartment.”
Matthew further continued, “I’m like great, give us Horacio’s apartment, we’re gonna kick down his door and get the bike back. He goes, well it’s in pieces. He took it apart, he’s bubble wrapping it and he’s shipping it to the Dominican Republic. He goes, I’ll call you with the shipping company. Everybody went out there and Horacio and a couple of guys show up in a stolen van. We busted them at the airport.”

However, the story doesn’t end with the mere recovery of the stolen bike. Cox further revealed, “Mike Tyson was upset because if you have comprehensive insurance on your car or motorcycle, if it gets stolen they cut you a cheque. If it gets recovered within 30 days, you get your car back and they’ll pay you to fix it or put it back together. And from what I remember, Mike Tyson was not happy because he didn’t want this bike back in pieces.”
This incident not only sheds light on the audacity of criminals but also on the intricacies of celebrity life and the attachment to their prized possessions. But beyond the theft and the recovery, it throws light on an underlying sentiment. The profound attachment we, including icons like Tyson, harbor for objects that hold personal significance.
