‘Rocky’ undoubtedly inspired a generation of boxers. It can also be argued that the blockbuster movie was one of the reasons boxing was a household sport in the last century. But things have changed drastically since, and so has the sweet science. However, Sylvester Stallone still believes some things don’t change.

The American actor showcased the gloves used for the Rocky movie, emphasizing the importance of hard work. ‘Rocky’ propelled Stallone, 77, into the limelight as he built his success on the bedrock of hard work. Before ‘Rocky,’ he was struggling to make ends meet, and his acting career was dwindling because of his speech impediment and partially paralyzed face. But he made it big. So, what did he say?

Stallone turned to his X handle and pointed out the gloves used for filming the ‘Rocky’ franchise. For him, those reminded him of the tougher times, whereas life these days is easier. He said, “They don’t even allow these today. They don’t even allow these today because they’re so dangerous. But that’s what they used when I did the film. They are barely six ounces, they are Reyes, and they are literally lethal. So I still have them because it’s a time when people were tougher. Sorry, they were.”

The ‘Rambo’ star then expressed his concerns about modern life, where technology has eased our lives. He firmly believes that humans are supposed to force themselves into tricky situations. They shouldn’t rely on technological advancements such as putting wheels on suitcases and not using lawnmowers with engines. While the New York native agreed it was a matter of convenience, he couldn’t help but bring up the deteriorating impact of AI.

Stallone continued, “Now with AI, you can literally put your brain in the pickle jar and have that machine do it. So I cherish these moments. I cherish hard work, even though I hate it. It’s like strong medicine, tastes horrible going down. But it makes you feel better.”

The movie is still fresh in the memories of’ Rocky’ fans as Rocky Balboa took on the adversities head-on and prevailed. Interstingly, how ‘Rocky’ got made is also an inspirational story, and it might get a cinematic adaptation of its own.

‘I Play Rocky’ in early works

Director Peter Farrelly will tell how ‘Sly’ struggled while making ‘Rocky’ on the silver screen. The ‘Green Book’ director will narrate the behind-the-scenes of how Stallone wrote the script but refused to share it with directors until he was allowed to play the lead role. When the 1976 project hit theaters, it became a blockbuster, racking up millions, pushing Stallone into stardom, and sweeping the Academy Award for Best Film.
