This Saturday, one of the prime faces of the lightweight division, Vasyl Lomachenko, will finally make his comeback to the game. His return was in the pipeline for a long time and now, the ex-champ is on the brink of facing a rugged contender in Masayoshi Nakatani.

The last time Lopez stepped inside the squared circle was in 2020 against Teofimo Lopez. Here, he capitulated to a devastating loss and lost his hard-earned belts.

But taking that loss on his chin, Lomachenko has moved ahead. In a fresh conversation with Top Rank Promotions, he explained why he picked Nakatani as his opponent. Also, he detailed his eagerness to rematch Teofimo Lopez and settle his scores once for all.

He said, “Nakatani is a very, very good choice for me. Because he gave Teofimo a very good fight. That’s why I take him. Now, I wanna show myself, I (am) better than Teofimo. Yeah, it’s not 100 percent realistic, but for myself, it’s real big, it’s real bad enough.”

“You can call yourself world champion than your whole 4 belts, it’s all about legacy. We change this glitch.”

‘Loma’ fared well in his 12-round war against ‘The Takeover’, but he picked up pace pretty late in the fight. And as a result, he had to pay the price for the same. Prior to facing Lopez, the Ukrainian boxer had a stellar run in the game and predominantly the 135-pound division.
