Newly crowned 3-weight champion Gervonta Davis has several options available to craft his upcoming journey in boxing. From retaining himself at 140 lbs, to going back to the stellar 135 lbs division where he has some unfinished business, ‘Tank’ can opt for several big matchups.

As he is also a PPV star now, we might see the American champion compete in a massive overseas fight in the future. Davis’ promoter, Leonard Ellerbe, has appeared optimistic about making the move. Speaking with Behind The Gloves, Ellerbe revealed that they are looking forward to hosting Gervonta Davis in the UK.

“If we choose to fight anybody, who is a British fighter or any other type of fighter overseas. What’s Tank gonna do? He’s gonna sell out a stadium. Because the British fans, they love Tank and they love boxing. We are going to come. We are going to do a big fight overseas,” said Leonard Ellerbe.

While these statements open the door to several possible showdowns, Floyd Mayweather may not be very interested. After Gervonta Davis’s win over Mario Barrios, ‘TBE’ expressed his views on Tank’s fighting future.

25-0 with 24 KOs, Davis is clearly the biggest prospect in Floyd Mayweather’s stable. Hence, ‘Money’ doesn’t want to share ‘Tank’ with any other promotion. Floyd Mayweather has clarified that he would prefer ‘Tank’ to compete against pugilists from the PBC or Mayweather Promotions roster.

That said, a lot of fantasy fights would not happen as many elites reside at different promotions. While Leonard Ellerbe’s statements provide a lifeline to the idea, nothing is official as of now.

Who can Gervonta Davis fight from the UK?

After grabbing the WBA 140 lbs belt against Barrios, several fans wanted to see Davis face Josh Taylor. Unfortunately, that fight is still way away from happening. However, a UK appearance may urge ‘Tank’ to compete against Taylor, in what could be a massive blockbuster. Apart from that, Ryan Garcia has also called out ‘Tank’.

While that fight would keep Davis in the US, it can also be an electrifying contest. Meanwhile, Gervonta Davis looks to relish his recent success and stardom. However, his sheer activity can bring him back to the ring once more in 2021.
