Gervonta Davis has attained a lot of fame after his most recent victory against 24-year-old-boxer Ryan Garcia. However, in a surprising turn of events he has now found himself in prison as he begrudgingly serves his sentence in jail instead of the initial 90 days house arrest. With how huge his name is in boxing right now, he has a lot of candidates who are willing to prove their own mettle against Davis.

When it comes to potential suitors, Undisputed Lightweight champion Devin Haney has recently shared his interest in a potential bout against ‘Tank’. Moreover, Haney called out Davis during the post-fight conference and claimed that it would be a “massive fight”. With that in mind Davis’ trainer, recently revealed a surprising detail about his next opponent.

Recently, Davis’ trainer Calvin Ford appeared on SHOWTIME Sports. There, he gave his opinion on various matters – from the Haney- Vasyl Lomachenko fight to Davis’ next opponent.

During the interview, the topic of Haney calling out Davis and the potential magnitude of the match-up was discussed. Ford agreed that the fight should take place and that they have already “called it out”. He revealed, “We actually flipped a coin between Devin Haney and Shakur [Stevenson].” He acknowledged that Davis has been criticized for not actively trying to get into big fights.

Ford asserted that the time for Davis to step up is now. However, according to Ford, the question is “Are they willing to take the fight? Are they going to out-price themselves?”.

Moreover, he also shared how he trains his fighters for the fight. “I train my guys and I tell my guys, ‘You train, you fight, you get paid we take care of the rest of everything else’. Look where it put us at, you know, we at the top of our game right now”, said Ford. Although it will take time for the bout to take place owing to Davis serving jail time. It will be interesting to see where this all leads to.

Teofimo Lopez takes aim: Davis, Haney, Stevenson, and Alvarez

Teofimo Lopez who recently came off in an easy victory against Josh Taylor surprisingly decided to retire from the sport at just the prime age of 25 years old. His decision to retire is partly because he believes that there aren’t any promising fights for him in the future. He is tired of the time fights can take to be made. He recently claimed that Davis is too scared to fight him. Lopez even called Devin Haney his “copy and paste”, which is why he is not interested in a bout against ‘The Dream‘. Moreover, he blasted Davis for putting rehydration clauses in contracts that inevitably make his opponents a bit weaker than him.

He called out Davis and said, Gervonta, you are a p***y. You are a b***ch. I don’t care what anyone says.” Moreover, he even took shots at Canelo Alvarez and said that he has been doing the same for years and is still  considered the ‘Face of Boxing.’ Furthermore, ‘The Takeover’ called Davis, Stevenson, and Haney his babies as he showed his disinterest to fight any of them. As of now, fans will have to wait to see if Davis will fight Haney or Stevenson. Haney is only planning to stay at 135 if he can get a fight against Davis.
