WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman believes this is crucial for such a high-profile fight. He stated, “Now we have the biggest fight in 25 years in the heavyweight division. So we have to try to do our best.” He stressed the importance of minimizing controversy, especially in a bout of this magnitude.

Sulaiman acknowledges the traditional resistance to change in boxing but remains optimistic about the proposal’s potential. He explains, “We do have a remote scoring system… We have found through fights done in this system that the more officials that score a fight, the less possibility of a wrong decision.”

Usyk is prepared in case Fury tries to back away once again

Usyk’s trainer, Sergey Lapin, expressed hope for the fight to proceed in May but acknowledged a contingency. “We have a clause to replace Fury with Filip Hrgovic if he withdraws again,” Lapin revealed, confirming Hrgovic as the designated substitute. Fury’s withdrawal, just weeks before the original fight date, was due to a sparring injury. Lapin, however, questioned Fury’s durability, suggesting Hrgovic could pose a significant threat. “Imagine what will happen when he faces Usyk’s power,” he remarked.
