His victory over Campbell made him the WBC Interim lightweight champion. Naturally, he became mandatory for Devin Haney who is the WBC champion. Despite this, his desire lies in fighting Davis who is the WBO lightweight champion.
News has now emerged that the WBC is planning to order a mandatory fight between Haney and Garcia. Michael Benson from TalkSPORT was the first to report the news. He wrote on his Twitter, “WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman has confirmed they are going to order Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia in the coming days.”

Ryan Garcia beating Luke Campbell causes confusion in the division
With the 22-year-old beating Campbell, an already exciting division got more intriguing. This is because Teofimo Lopez is the WBC franchise champion and could be in line to face either Devin Haney or Ryan Garcia, both of whom have a WBC title.

However, Garcia’s mind is elsewhere while Lopez himself is planning on moving up in weight. Either way, as things stand, there is no official announcement. However, WBC president, Mauricio Sulaiman, tried to clear the confusion.
