Rising Lightweight prodigy Ryan Garcia might finally get to test his skills against a boxer at the top. According to The Athletic, The WBC voted for a title bout between Luke Campbell and Garcia. This may finally set in motion Garcia’s plan to reach the top.

Luke Campbell last fought in August 2019. He faced Vasiliy Lomachenko for the vacant WBC title in addition to The Ring, WBA, and WBO titles.

Even though he gave a considerably great performance, Lomachenko scored a huge knockdown and won the fight via unanimous decision.

Campbell has also challenged for various titles in the past. He fought Jorge Linares in September 2017 for the WBA and The Ring Lightweight titles. Yet, he again missed his opportunity to capture gold as Jorge won the fight via split decision.

Boxing experts believe that the English boxer is one of the best Lightweights at present. Thus, the fact that he missed his chance to shine twice now only makes him stronger in contention for what lies ahead.

Therefore, a fight for the interim title will definitely help him get back on track much sooner than he expected.

Will Ryan Garcia carry on his undefeated streak?

21-year-old Ryan Garcia is coming up as a huge sensation in the world of boxing. He last fought Francisco Fonseca in February 2020.

Like most of his fights, the bout ended with Fonseca eating a lightning-fast jab right in the face. He went crashing to the canvas, and Garcia marked his 8th first-round professional victory.

He holds a blotless record of 20-0-0, out of which 17 wins came via KO.

Thus, he is one of the most promising Lightweights active today. He boasts of impeccable hand speed, coupled with great power.

Furthermore, he holds a considerable reach advantage over most Lightweights due to his tall stature. His movements inside the ring incline towards calmness unless he finds a clear shot.

And as soon as he spots an opportunity, he lets his fists zoom right into his opponent’s faces.

Garcia has been looking for an opportunity to fight for his worth for quite some time now. So, the proposal for the Interim title could be his first step into the big leagues.
