Both Jamie and Gavin would end up becoming world champions and join the rare company of brothers who were also champions. In addition, it seems that Nicolson wants to follow in their footsteps and become a world-champion boxer herself. However, the road to this will not be easy as Serrano is one the most dominant champions the sport has seen in a while.
Who are the McDonnell brothers?
Both Jamie and Gavin grew up in Doncaster aspiring to become world-class boxers. Jamie who is older by nine minutes would first try his hand at boxing and would quickly manage to get very good at it. He would start his boxing journey in the early 2000s and would eventually become the IBF bantamweight champion in 2013 and clinch the WBA title in 2014. He would carry the IBF strap for six years and the WBA strap for five years before retiring from the sport in 2019.

Gavin on the other hand had a similar path to his brother. He became a European champion in the early stages of his career and also challenged for the WBA and IBF featherweight titles in 2017 and 2018 respectively. Gavin would end up retiring from the sport in 2021 after a draw with Andoni Gago back in 2021 for the European title.
