Nico Ali Walsh had everything thrown at him as he fought this past weekend, with the crowd expressing its displeasure and an aggressive Sona Akale coming at him in full force. But what left the Grandson of boxing great Muhammad Ali in discomfort was his dislocated left shoulder, which caused him trouble in the final round of the fight. Standing true to his last name, he fought through it, and now a clip has emerged of what went on backstage after the fight.

The crowd and viewers saw Walsh, 23, in pain as he tried to punch his shoulder back into place mid-fight while dodging punches from Akale, making adjustments and switching to a southpaw stance. At one point he even jumped up in an effort to push his popped-out shoulder back into place. However, despite these lingering issues, he improved his record to 11-1 and avenged the only loss of his career. The Chicago native turned to his X handle and shared the visuals backstage as doctors worked on his shoulders post-fight.

The fans could hear statements like, “Breathe Nico. Nico breathe,” and “Think about things you like, like video games. Let us do our thing, right?” as he lay face flat on a gurney, and the medical staff helped relocate his shoulder. Toward the end of the clip, a doctor moved his shoulder back to its original state, and then you could hear the middleweight boxer say, “Ok, you just did it.” Expressing his gratitude to the medical staff, he wrote in the caption, “Thank you to the docs for dealing with me and relocating my shoulder.”

What caused the dislocation also evaded Walsh’s senses, as he addressed it during this post-fight interview. ‘The Legend Lives On’ had declared, “I don’t know what happened. I’ve never been through anything like that. And it popped out. But I survived, and I definitely beat him.” What seemed to have caused controversy and grabbed eyeballs was not just his dislocation but also his comments about Teofimo Lopez and his shocking disclosure of his rejection of a million-dollar fight with Jake Paul. As expected, ‘The Problem Child’ took notice of these comments and lashed out at him.

Jake Paul hits back at Nico Ali Walsh

Paul, 27, turned to his social media handles and tagged Walsh, as he called out the latter for avoiding him. He announced, “Lol exactly. His whole point here works against him.” Calling Walsh a “fraud,” the YouTuber-turned-prizefighter continued, “Now he admitted he ducked me but calling me a circus act. Gifted a decision tonight because of his last name. Shake my head.”

Will this exchange give rise to a rivalry in boxing? No one is sure. Only time will tell whether they will settle their differences inside a ring. While Paul is now focused on his fight with Mike Perry, Walsh can enjoy some time off the ring and maybe heal his shoulder.
