It’s back to boxing videos. However, instead of reviewing random fights—often providing the nuggets for street-wise self-defense tutorials or dissecting techniques from his own training videos—Tony Jeffries decided to focus on a figure from reel life. Given his past interaction with the star, the Sunderland-born Olympic bronze medalist decided to share a few insights on the boxing prowess of actor Chris Hemsworth.
The star of the popular ‘Thor’ franchise is well known for maintaining a ripped physique. It complements his fearless and thrill-seeking outlook. However, very few know that the Melbourne-born actor is reasonably well-versed in the craft of combat. Reportedly, Hemsworth has been honing his skills, especially in boxing, since his teenage years. To prepare himself for ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’, he stepped into a gym. A few clips of the workout that feature him training alongside a trainer gained considerable attention. Tony Jefferies went back to the footage to gauge Hemsworth’s form.

Sharing a photo where he is standing alongside the superstar, ‘The Mighty Mackem’ revealed that he used to train Chris Hemsworth. During that time, he couldn’t help but notice the well-conditioned physique of the award-winning actor.

“I noticed when I was training how fit and how strong he is, how determined he is, how hungry he is, and he’s got our body for a reason,” said Jeffries. The video captured Chris Hemsworth putting in intense work with his trainer using the mitts. The punches were mostly combinations, including left-left (jab), a straight right, followed by a few other variations.
‘The Mighty Mackem’s sharp eyes picked up a little shortcoming—Chris Hemsworth kept his chin a bit high. Technique-wise, that’s highly prohibitive since it exposes the boxer’s jaw and throat to incoming punches. But otherwise, the Beijing Olympics medal winner seemed quite satisfied. Behind a solid stance, the actor threw some powerful shots. Jeffries also had a word of praise for Hemsworth’s trainer.

“I’m impressed by Chris Hemsworth as I was when I was working with him,” concluded the Sunderland-born trainer. Many of the followers who joined him in the comment box too felt that Chris Hemsworth’s boxing was worth a dekko.
Last year, a piece on Men’s Health shared how Hemsworth had actually been learning boxing for a long time. That too; he didn’t pick the sport specifically for any movie role. However, as revealed by one of his close associates, he doesn’t seem to have participated in official competitions.

Not long ago, in another review, Tony Jeffries checked the charity boxing match between socialite Kim Kardashian and actress Tamara Frapasella. Otherwise, it’s always the detailed breakdown of boxing techniques that seems to endear a million-strong fans to ‘The Mighty Mackem’s videos.

Perhaps what makes his tutorials so interesting is the fact that he often allows himself to sit in the trainee’s chair to gauge whether a technique is workable or not. No wonder it surprised him when he learned that hitting tires effectively improved punch speed!
