After announcing his retirement from boxing, Dave Allen gave a very honest, but unusual reason for why he retired. Since then, video footage has emerged of him fighting Oleksandr Usyk; which may explain his decision to hang up his gloves. At just 28 years of age, his retirement did come as a surprise to many fight fans.

Michael Benson posted the video on his Twitter. The video showed him sparring former undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in preparation for his fight against Derek Chisora. Usyk hit Allen with a clean left hook and rattled him. Even with the protective sparring gear, that punch looked painful. However, it was clear to see that the Ukrainian backed off after that.
Dave Allen has now posted video of the moment he was hurt sparring Oleksandr Usyk: “I do a loud snore, this is my last idea of what happened for the next 30mins. I didn’t go down, but for all intents and purposes I’m knocked out from the second the left lands.”

This explains why Dave Allen said he is retiring because he is tired of getting punched in the face. Boxing is a ruthless sport and very difficult to keep going consistently. He was supposed to fight Christopher Lovejoy on the Usyk-Chisora undercard. However, that fight got canceled because of some contract issues.
