It was worth it to witness the most spectacular event for boxing fans around the globe. The eight-round battle between Marc Castro and Pedro Vicente delivered a memorable undercard bout. The slugfest proved why Cinco de Mayo Weekend is typically a special occasion for boxing in Las Vegas.

Under the card of the mega clash between Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol, Castro and Vicente proved that a fight doesn’t need a title on the line for it to be an outstanding display of fireworks.

Castro, 22, was undefeated in his career. The young prospect stepped inside the ring, boosting his phenomenal record of 5 knockouts in 6 fights. The American super feather was coming off a dominating KO victory over Julio Madera in a stunning trade of leather.

Meanwhile, his Cuban counterpart Pedro Vicente Scharbaai, who was 7-4-1 came into the bout to keep alive his hope of a future boxing career. The 33-year-old faced a loss in a previous fight for the vacant NABF Junior Super Feather title.

Marc Castro brought smoke to Pedro Vicente

Per expectations the favorite of the two, Castro delivered another dominating set of skills. The slugfest started slowly, with both pugilists trying to establish a jab. However, it did not take long enough for Castro to measure the distance and unload his fast hands. Beginning with the first, Castro won all rounds.

His hand speed along with fine landing ability outboxed the Cuban on all grounds. After the initial rounds, Pedro Vicente appeared tired as he tried to escape a knockout loss.

Though the bell stopped the bout, the winner was clear before it was declared.

The bout ended with Castro claiming a dominating decision victory over Vicente.

What’s next for the staunch boxing fans?

Though the one-sided action ended, it paved the way for the other delighting contest on the card. There are still the two title bouts on the line. First between Shakharam Giyasov and Christian Gomez for the vacant IBF North American welterweight title. And the second is between Montana Love and Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela.

The event will end with a major fight between Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol.
