Joseph George and Marcos Escudero finally clashed in their rematch after November 2019. The two had been looking to set the record straight after their last outing.
The two locked horns in the first card of Showtime Boxing, a Premier Boxing Champions Card, since March. The Light Heavyweight bout took place in Connecticut at the Mohegan Sun Casino, Uncasville.

The bout started off with the Argentinian Marcos pushing to take control. He put on a commendable display of skills as he widened the gap of scores.
However, George, too, stood his ground and did not let the hopes of a win escape his corner. Even though he was trailing on the scorecard, he kept his wits about himself, which allowed him to end the match in his favor after 9 grueling rounds.
In the ninth round, George turned the tide in his favor once and for all. He feigned a jab to the body, following which Marcos straightened his body only to meet a cracking left uppercut already on its way.

As soon as the strike contacted Marcos’ chin, he fell flat on his back. The sheer strength rendered him incapable of fighting on immediately after he dealt with the blow. In fact, such was the power in that punch that even as the referee began the countdown, Marcos could only so much as lift his head. An action as simple as that, too, required all his energy.
Therefore, George went on to win the fight via KO in the ninth round. At the time of the fatal strike, George was trailing 97-93, 97-93, 93-97 on the judges’ scorecards.
Joseph George casts away all doubts with highlight-reel KO victory
Describing his brutal knockout, George said,
“I was setting him up with the jab to the body and had him leaning over a little. I wanted him to get relaxed. And that’s exactly what he did. He was relaxed. I slipped over and shot it. Really, he gave it to me and I had to take it and put him down.”

This comes as a major boost for the advancement of George’s career. The last time that he faced Marcos Escudero, he barely managed a victory via split decision.
The decision spiraled towards controversy as many experts argued that Marcos, undefeated at the time, deserved the victory. Joseph was subject to a lot of criticism post that fight.
Thus, he had been waiting, along with Marcos, to settle the score and decide who the real victor is once and for all.
