Under legendary trainer Cus D’Amato’s tutelage, Mike Tyson learned to fight so that he could ‘hurt people’; mere winning wouldn’t suffice. Taking his words to heart, young Mike Tyson embarked on a campaign that changed views on Heavyweight boxing.
Winning his first title at the age of twenty, Mike Tyson soon added the WBA and IBF belts to the list. His title defense from 1987 to 1989 remains one of the most successful stints in Heavyweight boxing’s history. Finally, his fortune switched when he lost to Buster Douglas in 1990. For the next decade and a half, the world saw Mike Tyson traversing professional and personal predicaments. As he bid a final goodbye to boxing in 2005, Mike gradually overcame the demons that haunted him for so long with love, support, and faith. In place of the boxer, whose cold stare used to send shivers down the spine of every foe, a much more friendly and compassionate boxing elder, making a mark on entrepreneurial space, emerged. No wonder fans saw a lighter side of ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ following his retirement.
