You are guaranteed a heavy windfall when you fight Gervonta Davis, who is an American sweetheart and holds sway over fans with his reputation as a knockout artist. You add in the long layoff of 14 months, troubles outside the ring, and the persistent question of whether he can do it again against an undefeated challenger, and you have a recipe for a blockbuster event. And it did happen. Who became the biggest benefactor? Undoubtedly, it was Frank Martin. His fortunes witnessed an upturn, and now he finds himself soaked in fame and money.
Martin, 29, appeared on almost every popular podcast in the lead-up to the fight with ‘Tank’ and became a household name in the boxing community. What’s more? He had the biggest payout of his career, as he pocketed close to $3 million, excluding the PPV share, which might even shoot up his total earnings to $5 million. There are some perks of fighting a serious contender to the tag of ‘the face of boxing’, right?
So, how did the Michigan native splurge his hard-earned cash? He recently turned to his Instagram handle and, in a story, gave his fans a glimpse of it. In the video, the fans could witness Martin, at 18-1, trying out a thick gold chain at a jewelry shop. While there are no estimates as to how much it would have cost him, you can make a safe guess of tens of thousands. The lightweight boxer has a knack for chains, and a look at his Instagram handle can tell his fans the same.

Interestingly, ‘The Ghost’ had turned down an offer of $1 million to fight Shakur Stevenson and instead waited for a better opportunity and a heftier paycheck. It came as a fight with Davis, and despite the loss, he exhibited his heart and zeal to work hard inside the boxing ring. Where he goes from here and whom he fights next is anyone’s guess, but he might still have to look for his PPV revenue. If some reports are to be believed, he might be in for a surprise.

Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin: PPV conundrum
When Canelo Alvarez vs. Jaime Munguia fought under the PBC banner, their PPV numbers clocked at about 550k. The promotion had high hopes for Davis vs. Martin, but according to Jed I. Goodman, the event could only pull 200k PPV buys. It’s surprising, isn’t it? Rick Glaser also projected a similar number of 200k PPV buys. So, the writing is on the wall for Davis, at 30-0, that he needs to fight a big name next to shatter some PPV records.
On the other hand, Martin has already fought the fight of his career, and at 29, he is in his prime years. You shouldn’t be surprised if he is back in the ring soon. But before that happens, he will take his sweet time, enjoying his popularity and splashing the cash.
