This clip is about ‘The Pretty Boy’ accepting his unhygienic behavior a year later after clinching the WBA light-middleweight title by outboxing Miguel Cotto in the 43rd consecutive win at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Merchant said, “I want to let you all know that Floyd graciously came to me yesterday and apologized for the incident the last September.”

For the uninitiated, ‘The Best Ever’ had thought after a controversy that Merchant should not be the target for just asking a few tough questions.
What had happened between Floyd Mayweather and Larry Merchant?
The most controversial fight of Floyd Mayweather’s career is his infamous clash with Victor Ortiz for the WBC welterweight title in 2011. Which ended on a dramatic, controversial note.
In the fourth round of the epic clash, Ortiz pushed ‘Money’ on the ropes and forced his head on the latter’s chin, leading to the referee’s intervention. Taking the note of illegal head-butting, the referee deducted a point on Ortiz’s scorecard.
However, this ignited the heat of anger inside ‘The Best Ever’ and eventually resulted in the controversial finish to the fight. Because when Ortiz started moving away from Mayweather after apologizing and hugging, the latter did barely wait. He threw the right and left combination as soon as the referee allowed. Till then Ortiz was looking at the referee and was not ready in his stance to face Mayweather.

Though the move was not illegal, it was against fair play and billed as a cheap shot.
Henceforth, during the post-fight interview, Larry Merchant came up with tough questions, which made Mayweather upset and he took it personally and lashed out at the HBO announcer.
He said, “You never give me a fair shake. HBO needs to fire you. You don’t know Sh** about boxing. You ain’t s***. You got s***.”
