An apple never falls far from the tree, so goes the adage. Fans and followers were in for a pleasant surprise today. They came across a new member of the famous Mayweather clan taking a greenhorn through the nuances of the sweet science. After all, his uncles were world champions in their time. His father was a world champion, having fought the likes of Julio Cesar Chavez and Kostya Tszyu, but found widespread acclaim as a trainer for his cousin, the living legend Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Strictly speaking, the fourth generation of the Mayweathers is already there: Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s grandson, Kentrell Gaulden Jr., but he is too young to predict whether he will take boxing as a profession like his grandfather and great-grandfather. So far, none of Mayweather Jr.’s four children have shown any inclination to take up the mantle from their famous father.

So, the Mayweather channel uploaded the two-and-a-half-minute clip. It shows LehKei Mayweather wearing boxing pads and working with a student on the basics. Probably, the two were into honing the defensive moves since the young trainer appeared to be aggressive, pushing the novice on the defensive and forcing him on the ropes. The clip has already received over a thousand views.
Hence, many supporters must have felt encouraged to see Mayweather Jr.’s cousin gearing up to become a world-class trainer like his father used to be.

Roger Mayweather‘s prolific career began in 1981 and lasted eighteen years when he fought his last bout in 1999. By 1996, he had trained his prodigal nephew, who turned professional boxer that year. Floyd Mayweather Sr. looked after his son’s training needs for a brief interlude. However, Roger Mayweather was back in the saddle by the turn of the century.
He remained Mayweather Jr.’s trainer until 2012. By then, his health had started failing him. Suffering from multiple ailments, which included diabetes, ‘Black Mamba’ passed away on May 17, 2020. Many fans still remember him for his charge into the ring during the infamous Mayweather Jr. and Zab Judah fight. The Athletic Commission fined and suspended him for nearly a year for his intrusions. Unfortunately, as it remains, not many details about LehKei Mayweather are available.
