Canelo Alvarez has a boxing resume not many can match. His professional career began when he was just 15. A few months after, he blew the candles on the cake for his 15th birthday. Alvarez tightened his boxing gloves to make his pro-debut at such a young age. As ridiculous as that sounds, the Mexican was exchanging jabs with professional boxers when others were busy with their school. But that decision to turn professional made Alvarez who he is today. Many have seen the ‘Cinnamon’ knocking his opponents out cold. But it seems like he had that in him from the very beginning. As a clip from his first pro fight has resurfaced on the internet.
It’s been almost 17 years since Alvarez made his pro debut inside the boxing ring. But, his first pro fight already showed the superstar he was bound to become in the sport. Alvarez’s first professional opponent was Abraham Gonzalez, who also ended up becoming the first win for him.
Canelo Alvarez was a menace from the beginning

Young Alvarez’s speed and strength were unmatched by his opponents. Alvarez was able to win the fight by a fourth-round stoppage. The young Mexican was not someone to fool around with. And he made that very clear during his first fight.
The fight started like any other fight. But Alvarez was quick to get on to his opponent, attacking him with a plethora of lefts and rights. And, despite many tries for Gonzalez to make try to break the young Alvarez’s defense, the attempts proved to be pointless as Alvarez showed impregnable defense. The exchange of jabs went on for a while between the two. But Alvarez gave something to his opponent that won him the fight.
After the third round, Gonzalez can be seen struggling to maintain his balance. And it is visible that his eye is being checked for damage in his corner. Alvarez’s jabs sealed the fight for him and he was announced the winner of the fight by technical knockout. This fight is a testament to the greatness Alvarez was bound to achieve.
Another spectacular performance by young Alvarez
A user named @thesportofboxing posted a clip wherein Alvarez, who was 16 at the time, was fighting a 35-year-old. The clip showed Alvarez overpowering his opponent with his jabs and combos. Alvarez was quick to knock down his opponent with a right hook. And he knocked him down the second with a one-two combo. Alvarez prevailed in the fight following a third knockdown. The clip echoes that age is just a number.
