Why is Devin Haney avoiding Eddie Hearn questions? Is there more to this story than meets the eye?

Before Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois took centre stage at Wembley Stadium, another fight broke out outside of it, but between two close allies. Devin Haney and Eddie Hearn locked horns and threw verbal sludges at each other, and the boxing community watched it all unfold on X. The reason behind all the commotion? The American boxer’s demand for tickets to watch Joshua vs. Dubois live.

Haney, 25, started the spat when he turned to his X handle and labeled Hearn, 45, “the fakest n**ga” for refusing to give in the event’s tickets to him. He then posted a string of comments bashing the British promoter. In response, Hearn hit back at him and pointed out how Haney had asked him for tickets at 6 am and requested him to “drop the arrogance.”

When the 30-1 record holder was leaving the Wembley Stadium after the event’s conclusion, he talked with Fight Hub TV and discussed the results and the future fights in the heavyweight division. But when asked whether he and Hearn ironed out their differences, Haney dodged the question.

The San Francisco native said, “Man, I came down [to] watch the fight, enjoy the fight, and that’s exactly what I did… I don’t know what you’re talking about. The UK was great.”

Haney is currently on a break from boxing and is eyeing a comeback against Ryan Garcia in a rematch. In addition, he has the option of fighting IBF champion, Liam Paro, next. However, that’s an approach that doesn’t sit well with Hearn, who wants him to pick up a tune-up fight next.

Eddie Hearn lays out the ideal return plan for Devin Haney

Have an interesting take?

In a conversation with Fight Hub TV, the Matchroom lynchpin explained how Haney should get his confidence back with an easy fight before the end of the year. He also pointed out it could be a catchweight fight to help him with his weight adjustments. Hearn declared, “I think Devin should come back at the end of the year with an easy fight. That was a tough fight against Ryan Garcia. Maybe a catchweight between 140 and 147.”

Hearn also shunned the idea of traveling to Australia to fight Paro next and instead argued for an easy return to the boxing fold. It could help ‘The Dream,’ who had a subpar outing against Garcia and, if not for the latter’s PED violations, would have registered his first loss on the record. It remains to be seen how well Haney pays heed to Hearn’s advice.
