Undisputed champion at Super Middleweight, Canelo Alvarez was unsuccessful in his quest for the Light Heavyweight title against Dmitry Bivol. Meanwhile, Alvarez was seen singing at a party after his loss to Bivol.

Alvarez and his wife, Fernanda Gomez, were attending the after-party with friends and family. Gomez also comforted him for his loss.

Additionally, Alvarez enjoyed a karaoke session with the Mexican actor, Diego Boneta. The duo sang a song by Luis Miguel.

Moreover, Alvarez also took the time to address boxing fans who had gathered to meet the champ.

Dmitry Bivol’s face-off with Canelo Alvarez

According to Alvarez’s trainer and manager, Eddy Reynoso, he was initially supposed to challenge Congolese boxer Ilunga Makabu for his WBC Cruiserweight title. However, this fight failed to materialize as Makabu had to defend his title against Thabiso Mchunu.

It was then announced on February 25, 2022, that Alvarez had signed a multi-fight deal with Matchroom Boxing. Further, Alvarez returned to the Light Heavyweight division to face the champion, Bivol.

The bout took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. Moreover, the fight saw Bivol defending the WBA (Super) Light Heavyweight title in a sensational showdown. Alvarez was a fan favorite for the match. In fact, the crowd booed Bivol at his entry on stage. And, It seemed apparent that he was a party crasher at Alvarez’s Cinco de Mayo celebration.

However, Bivol was in control throughout the fight. His technical prowess, stellar footwork, and laser-like focus proved to be a major challenge for Alvarez.

It seemed certain that the formidable Alvarez had finally met his match. At the end of the fight, all the three judges identically graded the bout 113 to 115 in favor of Bivol, making him the winner by decision.
